1. What Ekky is

Ekky looks up published lab tests by independent testing organisations and summarises their findings as a score, using the formula described on our home page. Ekky doesn’t test products itself.

Information, not advice. Ekky is not medical, dietary or legal advice and doesn’t tell you whether a product is safe or healthy for you.
Reports belong to their publishers. Lab results are the work of the organisations that published them. Ekky is not affiliated with them. Always check the original report, which Ekky links to, before relying on a finding.
Mistakes can happen. Reports are found and read partly by automated tools and an AI model. Products change, reports age, and barcodes can be matched to the wrong product. We work to keep Ekky accurate but can’t promise it is complete or error-free.
Product data (names, brands, pictures) comes from Open Food Facts under the Open Database License (ODbL).

2. Your account

You sign in with a Google account. You must be at least 18. Keep your phone and Google account secure; you are responsible for what is done with your Ekky account. You can delete it at any time, as described on the account deletion page.

3. Review rules

Reviews help other shoppers only if they are honest. When you write one:

Review only products you have actually bought or used, and describe your own experience.
Don’t review products you have a stake in: if you work for, are paid by or compete with the brand, don’t review it.
No hate, harassment, threats, sexual content, or content that is illegal.
No advertising, links, spam or fake reviews, and don’t write the same review many times.
Don’t include personal information about yourself or anyone else.
Don’t claim that a product causes or cures a disease.

Reviews are checked by automatic rules and by people. We may hide or remove a review, and limit or suspend an account that breaks these rules. You can report any review in the app.

You keep the rights to what you write. By posting a review you allow us to show it in Ekky, worldwide and free of charge, for as long as Ekky runs, including after your account is deleted, when it is shown anonymised as “Deleted user”. You can ask us to remove your reviews at any time by email.

Reviews and stars from users never change the lab score.

4. Ekky Plus

Ekky Plus is an optional paid subscription, monthly or yearly. The price is shown in the app and on Google Play before you buy.
It is billed by Google Play and renews automatically until you cancel it in Google Play. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Plus stays active until the end of the paid period.
Refunds follow Google Play’s refund policy and the law of your country.
Deleting your Ekky account doesn’t cancel the subscription.
Plus adds features to the app. It never changes a product’s score.

5. Fair use

Don’t misuse Ekky: don’t try to break or overload it, copy its data in bulk with automated tools, get around its limits or use it to break the law. We may limit requests to keep the service running for everyone.

6. Changes and availability

We may change, pause or stop parts of Ekky, and we may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app before it applies. If you don’t agree with new terms, you can stop using Ekky and delete your account.

7. Liability

Ekky is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make based on information in Ekky, or for indirect losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.
